Around the World in Los Angeles.
Ruksana is the author of Around the World in Los Angeles released in August 2024 and published by Reedy Press. A Guide to International Food, Celebrations, and Attractions.
Around the World in Los Angeles features many people, places, stories, and histories that have created the L.A. the world knows and loves today. The book shines the spotlight on unique experiences, sharing about communities. It also includes cuisines, cultures, and the connections that thread it all together.
Living in Los Angeles, the author experiences everyday how the different communities that call this city home are impressing and embracing locals and visitors. From Hispanic and Latino, to Arab, African, Asian, South Asian, Native American, and more, many ethnicities and nationalities make L.A. the melting pot it is. Visit a single neighborhood in the larger metro area, and you will immediately notice the diversity that surrounds you, whether that’s languages, festivals, fashions, or other facets.
Ruksana’s Takeaways.
“Put yourself first, focus on what works for you, build your life around it, and you will see everything falls into place.”
“Stop comparing yourself to others in a negative way. Instead, use that as fire to fuel your drive and learn how you can do better.”
“Learning to say no, and to hear no, are two of the most important lessons you can learn as an entrepreneur or freelancer.”
“Always ask – how does this opportunity improve the overall quality of my life experiences? Decision-making becomes pretty easy with this question!?
In Closing.
Choose any week or month and the city offers you several avenues to immerse yourself in those diverse experiences. This very aspect of Los Angeles shines through as the city prepares to host the 2028 Olympics and Paralympics, among other major regional and international events. But don’t wait until then.
