Filmmaker Cassidy McMillan

Many holidays seem to land on a Monday.  The good news, it provides many people with a three-day weekend, that actually includes me!  I want to take a moment to acknowledge all the men and women that have served our country, including my dad. Thank you.

My show on May 30th will be a rebroadcast of a show from this past January 18th with actress and award winning filmmaker Cassidy McMillan.

Cassidy’s documentary Bullies and Friends www.BulliesAndFriends.com is an in-depth look about the tragedies of bullying that led to the suicides of two young teenage girls.  This show will give you an opportunity to hear about her advocacy efforts by bringing this serious topic to schools and organizations.

Cassidy is well respected around the world. Her awards include the United Nations UNA Impact Filmmaking Award; the Walt Disney Company Excellence Award and the Inanna Filmmaker Humanitarian Award.

Perhaps it would surprise you to know that suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death among children ages 10 and up.

The documentary tells the story of a young girl’s suicide and how she named the three girls that were bullying her.  This led to a precedent setting court case, in which for the first time in North America, teens stood trial for bullying.

Learn about some of the root causes of bullying. But where problems are discussed, solutions are also part of the show.

Here is the update since she was last on my show and how you might consider helping.
