The Last Week of 2013

Oh no, not another year over already! While thinking back on the events of 2013, I have much to be grateful for. I can’t believe the people I’ve met, the places I’ve seen and the continued love and support I have from my family and friends.

Indulge me as I capture some of these wonderful memories this week.

One of my goals this year was to do some inviting rather than always be the one that is invited.  My first guests were my friends that I sit with at the WNBA Sparks games. I’ve been sitting with some of these ladies for 17 seasons, others just a few years less…from the Forum to Staples Center…we cheer on our team!

It’s been said that I can be bold when it comes to talking to people. I knew there was a possibility that one of our long time players may be retiring.  I didn’t expect that she would be traded.  So I worked my way with some persistence and good fortune across the court to the husband of DeLisha Milton-Jones during halftime to say hello.  I had to sweet talk the “guard monitors” to get on to the floor. Roland used to work out at the Y as did DeLisha back some 15 years ago.  She is a 2 time gold medal winner. It was really cool spending some time with both of them. Yes, she is a bit taller than me at 6’1″ but it’s her “wingspan” of 7′ that makes her such a dynamic player.

I wish I had taken a picture of my crock pot jambalaya, it was spicy and good. Just like my friends!  One of the most interesting things that happened that January 12th was the beginning of my partnership with Deb.  She saw some potential in me that I could never have imagined.  I was a guest on two radio shows that she produced that has lead me to this blog and the prospects of my own show this coming year!

I had a blast being a guest on the Let’s Do Lunch, with Chef Richard Petty’s radio show, which is both audio and visual. You can see me wearing the headset on the gallery page of my website!  Also, selecting just the right business card that could explain Born To Talk, felt like another milestone.

As I look back at my calendar and realize what a full life I lead, it makes me happy.  There were meetings and work out sessions, weekly Mah Jonng and monthly Bunco, monthly book club, the Clippers and the Ahmanson Theater, along with out of town guests.

Is it any wonder that I have reasons to be grateful!!  But wait…there is so much more.  Come back on Wednesday and take a tour of my travels to The Inn on Newfound Lake. Here’s a winter tease…
