Jerome Gaw, Exploring the Wonders of Nature

Join me on Monday, October 21st, from 1-2 PT, with my guest on the Born To Talk Radio Show Podcast,                    Jerome Gaw. Jerome and I met on multiple Social Media sites, because of our love of bird photography. Two strangers with a common interest.

Meet Jerome Gaw.

Jerome enjoys exploring the connectedness of the natural world. A mental health practitioner by profession, he spends a good deal of his free time documenting nature through photographs. His areas of interest include birds and wildlife in urban spaces. Jerome has been a certified California Naturalist since 2017, and a volunteer conservation educator since 2014. He is committed to promoting ecological literacy and sustainable behavior within communities. He is also a volunteer at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, CA.

His other interest is music. Especially as a lifelong fretted instrument musician. What does that mean?  He plays the ukulele!

What is the California Naturalist Program all about?

The mission of the California Naturalist Program is to foster a diverse community of naturalists and promote stewardship of California’s natural resources through education and service.

The program is designed to introduce Californians to the wonders of our unique ecology.  They engage the public in the study and stewardship of California’s natural communities. The course work is directed to teachers, docents, land stewards, natural resource professionals, and nature enthusiasts. The program uses a science curriculum.  This includes hands-on learning, problem-solving, citizen science, and community service. The goal is to instill a deep appreciation for the natural communities of the state.  And, to inspire individuals to become stewards of their local resources.

In addition.

We will be talking about his love of photography.  How does he integrate his connection with nature and his mental health practice?

If you enjoy following people on social media, I would highly recommend visiting Jerome’s Instagram and Twitter pages. You will find him listed as @cascrubjay.

Just one more connection. As you can see,  I happen to have a scrub jay that visits my yard for breakfast, a drink and a bath!

Together, Jerome and I will be sharing mutual interests and stories that brought two strangers together!
