Introducing Joseph Feneck and Rea Crane

Have you heard of the LA Philharmonic Orchestra?  I thought you had! Today’s guests represent the volunteers that work to promote youth music education and so much more with the LA Phil.

Joseph Feneck is the Manager of Volunteer Activities.

Volunteerism is not new to the LA Phil.  In 1923 Maestro Torthwell, suggested forming a group to assist growing an audience and selling concert tickets. Fast forward to today.  We will learn about the current 16 affiliates and committees; what they do and how they support music for school age children.

Do you remember going to your first symphony?  Listening to an orchestra?  How did it make you feel?

If you have been a volunteer, like my friend Rea Crane, past president of the Committee of Professional Women, then you understand what it means to be committed to a cause that is important to you.In 1965 the COPW started with just four women, including Dorothy Chandler.  Their members, both men and women share a passion for classical music and the arts.  This group is all about giving kids from the classroom to the group home an opportunity to experience classical music.

Join me as we listen to some favorite classical music and explore the world of volunteers.  Maybe you will be inspired to start a similar organization in your hometown.
