Thanks to Joni Ackerman and Jim Thompson for joining me today on the Born To Talk Radio Show. I learned a lot about Kiwanis both locally and internationally. They see a need and they go about filling it here and abroad.
Volunteering is the key to enriching our lives and they both represent why this is important in their local clubs and in their district responsibilities. Each community has different needs, and Kiwanis empowers members to pursue creative ways to serve the needs of children through local service projects and fundraising.
I didn’t realize the impact they have on children as young as elementary school age all the way through college. The lessons these young children learn with the involvement of their local Kiwanis Club sets the stage for their future. Hear how these young children recently made a difference in their community in their K-KIDS Club.
You will hear about high school student members of KEY Clubs including their acts of service along with learning leadership skills.
I also learned about the AKITON Club that is supported by Kiwanis. This is a service club where adults living with disabilities can learn leadership skills by participating in a variety of service projects.
They have a slogan, that I think we can all embrace: “Live it. Share it. Love it.”
I’m so inspired by Joni and Jim’s years of dedication. If you would like to learn more, reach out to the local Kiwanis Club in your community. If you don’t have one, perhaps you will consider starting one. Check out the link to learn more.
