Michael J. Bowler Writer and Friend

I’m looking forward to my repeat guest, Michael J. Bowler joining me on my Born To Talk radio show, Monday, October 23 starting at 1:00 on LA Talk Live and Ustream.

Michael is an award-winning author who grew up in Northern California. He majored in English/Theatre at Santa Clara University, earned a master’s in film production from Loyola Marymount University, a teaching credential in English from LMU, and a master’s in Special Education from Cal State University Dominguez Hills. Michael taught high school in Hawthorne, California, both in general education and to students with disabilities. He’s also made low-budget horror films, written stage plays, and coached strength training at local YMCA’s. Including the Westchester YMCA, where we met over 20 years ago.  I always knew when Mike was in the building in the late afternoon when school was out. The young men that worked out at the Y followed in into the weight room to learn his disciplines for safe and effective weight lifting.

When Mike is not writing, you can find him volunteering as a youth mentor with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program and within the juvenile justice system in Los Angeles. He is in the process of adopting a child and is a passionate advocate for the fair treatment of children and teens in California. Michael hopes his books can show young people they are not alone in their struggles.

We will be exploring the avenues of writing as well as the foster and adoption process through his personal experiences. Mike has a wonderful way with words and inspires everyone that knows him. He’s both humble and compassionate.

Please join us and tell your friends to watch and listen to this inspiring and informative show.
