Shaun Dyer

Joining me on the Born To Talk Radio Show Podcast is Shaun Dyer. Shaun is the Community Engagement Manager for the Westside Food Bank, located in Santa Monica, California.

Meet Shaun.

“I am an introvert who thrives in meaningful engagement. I am an LA native who grew up in South LA. After  graduating from Culver City High School, I moved to Sacramento where I received a BA in Administration of Justice and continued to live in Sacramento for 10yrs.”

“I moved back to LA in 2006, where I began a background in sales for brands like Tiffany, Rochester and Armani. In March of 2023, I was hired by the Westside Food Bank.  Initially, I  started as an order picker and was promoted to Community Engagement Manager in 2024. Lastly, I am a proud father of two boys and recently became engaged in December of 2025.”

Westside Food Bank.

Their mission is to end hunger in our communities. They provide access to free nutritious food through food acquisition and distribution. They do so by engaging the community and advocating for a strong food assistance network.

Every day, our food nourishes:

  • Families with children
  • Unemployed, under-employed, low-wage, and middle-wage workers
  • Seniors on fixed incomes
  • Women and their children living in domestic violence shelters
  • Adults and transition-aged youth experiencing homelessness
  • People with mental health conditions, chronic illnesses, and other disabilities
  • College students
  • Veterans and their families

Shaun’s Takeaways.

“One of the main things I hope people take away from our conversation is a higher understanding of who the Westside Food Bank is.  Along with what it is we do, and how to help us join this fight on food insecurity. Our organization is here to help solve a real problem and people like myself are here to lead the effort. At Westside Food Bank, we’re working every day to make sure families have access to the food they need.  But, we can’t do it alone. With community, partners and sponsors, we can expand our reach and serve even more people. So if you’re listening and looking for a meaningful way to make an impact, this is an opportunity to be part of something that truly changes lives.”

In Closing.

The Westside Food Bank distributes nearly 5 million pounds of food every year.

Thank you for sharing the wonderful work the Westside Foof Bank is doing!
