Do you remember the movie from 1993, “Point of No Return” staring Bridget Fonda? It was thriller about a young violent, unstable drug addict found guilty of murdering a police officer and sentenced to death by lethal injection. Instead, her death is faked and an elaborate plan hatches when a secret government agent informs her that she will be given her freedom with a beauty and personality makeover. But there was a catch, in return for her freedom, she was being trained to be an assassin.
You may want to watch this compelling movie with a great soundtrack, including the sultry Nina Simone singing “Feeling Good.” It’s the perfect song for the very dark and moody actress, as she plays it over and over again.
I often hear songs in my head, but I can’t recall the exact lyrics. Once I learn the lyrics it’s a matter of matching words to pictures to tell a story.
Birds flying high, you know how I feel.
Sun in the sky, you know how I feel.
Breeze driftin’ on by, you know how I feel.
It’s a new dawn, It’s a new day, It’s a new life And I’m feeling good, yeah.
Fish in the sea, you know how I feel.
River running free, you know how I feel.
Blossom on the tree, you know how I feel.
Dragonfly out in the sun, you know what I mean.
Butterflies all havin’ fun, you know what I mean.
Stars, when you shine.. you know how I feel.
Scent of the pine, you know how I feel.
Oh freedom is mine And I know how I feel.
It’s a new dawn,
It’s a new day,
It’s a new life For me
And I’m feeling good.
Inspiring lyrics with the beautiful haunting voice of Miss Simone.
