Join me on Monday, August 12th from 1-2 PT for my 214th edition of the Born To Talk Radio Show Podcast. My guests are, Executive Director of Susan G. Komen LA County, Mark Pilon, and Terri Brooks, Breast Cancer survivor, Founder and President of The World of Lonsville.
As you read this, I’m guessing that you or someone you know has heard these words that no one wants to hear…”You Have Breast Cancer.”
Our focus today is what the non-profit organization of Susan G. Komen LA County is doing to make a difference by providing funding for breast health services, breast cancer education and outreach in our Los Angeles County communities. And, how Terri Brooks is fighting back and sharing her experience as a Breast Cancer survivor.
Let’s get to know my guests.
Mark has been the Executive Director of Susan G. Komen LA County since 2013. He is an inspirational leader who has developed and grown the non-profit’s profile. Beyond his successful fundraising efforts, he initiated the first collaborative effort with multiple affiliates for a single grant initiative to serve the African American community in Los Angeles.
Meet Terri Brooks.
Terri Brooks has worked in different fields, from designing homes to designing custom suits for professional athletes, along with event planning for corporations. She is a single mother of three daughters. Terri was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2015 and sharing her inspirational journey with us. What do you do, when you learn you have cancer?

Their goal:
To save lives by meeting the most critical needs in our communities and investing in breakthrough research to prevent and cure Breast Cancer.
The World of Lonsville.
While going through a divorce and breast cancer all at the same time, Terri decided to come up with a Non-Profit Organization, The World of Lonsville, Inc. named after her three daughters. Her goal is to help women encountering the same struggles and devastations that she has experienced. Terri’s on a mission to make sure her daughters, and no other woman whether with children or not, will experience nor have to suffer or struggle financially. However, whether it is a medical crisis, an unexpected divorce, or being a single mom fighting from being homeless, Terri is here to help.
No woman will be left behind!
Our focus!
Both Mark Pilon and Terri Brooks are leaders in the community. They will be sharing their stories about the great work they are doing to educate and support both men and women fighting breast cancer.
