It’s time for another episode of the Born to Talk Radio Show Podcast heard live on Monday, July 22nd from 1-2 PT. My guests are Charlene Carey and Karen Dial.
Meet Charlene and Karen.
Charlene’s long and vibrant career in ballet and choreography began in 1976 and branched into entertainment and diplomacy. Charlene founded the Rocky Mountain Ballet Theatre in Missoula, Montana. This is a school and performing arts company with over 50 ballets in its repertoire. They began touring internationally in 2002. She danced at Radio City Music Hall following in her Mother’s footsteps who danced in the ballet company there. Charlene became a choreographer for Chicago’s “Light Opera Works.” She also served on the faculty for Lou Conte and the Hubbard Street Dance Company for 7 years. She was a leading dancer or choreographer for hundreds of ballets, operas, and night club acts.
Karen is joining me for the second time on my show. She is the Executive Producer of Ballet Beyond Borders. Since 2006, Karen has served as President of Drollinger Properties. In 2004, she began working with her father, Howard, at the company and has served as a member of the company’s board of directors since 1997. Drollinger Properties is the largest property management firm in Westchester Town Center and has been in business since 1947. Karen is a member of the Loyola Marymount University (LMU) Board of Trustees and the managing director of the Drollinger Family Charitable Foundation.
Rocky Mountain Ballet Theatre.
Rocky Mountain Ballet Theatre School opened in 1998. Charlene serves as the artistic director. She teaches intermediate and advanced level classes. The school’s integrated approach to dance brings students into the world of dance through a variety of explorations. They actively engage students in perception, research, reflection, and discussion. The curriculum includes ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, pre-ballet, and creative movement. In 2003, the school moved to its present location which has three large studios.
Continuing on the international scene, the Rocky Mountain Ballet Theatre has produced Ballet Beyond Borders since 2016. Dancers from around the world come to Missoula, for a dance challenge, film fest, and diplomacy conference.
Due to heightened interest in the global dance community, Ballet Beyond Borders is proud to expand their festival to premiere in Los Angeles/Westchester.
