Brian Sieman

I’m a basketball fan. It’s a dance of athleticism and skill in a fast paced setting. Words like dribble, box out, slam dunk, pick n roll and cross court pass are just part of a glossary of words that can describe the game.

That leads me to introduce you to my guest on this week’s, Born To Talk radio show.

Brian Sieman is the play by play radio broadcaster for the Los Angeles Clippers.

It’s a funny story about how we met and a little bit embarrassing at the same time.

In Los Angeles, we have professional sports galore. Pick your sport, you like baseball? My Dodgers are in first place. You like the WNBA, my Sparks are in first place. Maybe you’re a hockey fan, Let’s Go Kings!

When it comes to the NBA, I’m part of the Clipper Nation! So long Kobe, thanks for the memories.

Let’s talk about our super stars and we have many, just to name a few.

This photo was taken almost 3 years ago to the date. Chris Paul, DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin.

These men can play!

Maybe your team plays in the bay area, I hear they’re pretty good and added another superstar to their lineup. Whatever team you follow, unless you leave the TV or radio on mute, someone is announcing the action.

That’s where Brian comes in.  He brings a ton of experience after graduating from the University of Kansas.  If you follow the NCAA college teams, then you know how much fun attending the Jayhawk games with coach Roy Williams must have been.

How do you take that interest and build it into a career?  We will talk about Brian’s early days in broadcasting, for the WNBA Minnesota Lynx. What are the differences between the WNBA and the NBA?

Then a quick stint with the Timberwolves and superstar Kevin Garnett.

Since 2007, you can hear Brian calling the Clipper games, currently on KLAC-AM 570 on your radio dial. I’m really interested in how he can watch and describe the plays at the same time. This is much different than the skills necessary to call a game that is televised.

How does he do it? You’ll have to tune in and find out on Monday, September 29th. Check out the live broadcast on www.latalklive.com or www.ustream.tv/channel/la-talk-live from 1-2 PT for your listening and viewing pleasure.

Your unable to listen live, no problem, the show will be archived and available for listening and viewing on my Born To Talk Radio Show Facebook page or by simply going to my website www.borntotalkradioshow.com and clicking on Radio Show archives later in the afternoon.

I’m sharing the microphone with Brian, let’s see how the ball bounces!
