I had the privilege of sharing the Born To Talk Radio Show Podcast with my guest, Julian Gonzalez. Wise beyond his years, Julian shares the story of his life.
In the beginning.
Julian is the first American born member of his family that includes his younger brother and sister. For that reason, it was important to his parents that he had a bilingual elementary school education. This was his beginning. Growing up in a large Latino family with many aunts, uncles and cousins laid the foundation in his early years. He will be sharing what it meant to him to be surrounded by family.
College.
After graduating from Loyola High School in Los Angeles, Julian went to Santa Clara College in northern California. He majored in finance with a minor in Spanish. He knew very early on that his gift of two languages in the field of finance was going to make a huge impact in the Latino communities. With one quarter left before graduation, Julian had accepted an internship with MassMutual Financial Group. Spring break was coming up and it was time to go to the beach with his seven buddies for some R & R in San Diego.
Oh, no…a Sandbar!
Unknowingly, diving into a wave at the beach in San Diego, Julian struck head first into a sandbar sometimes referred to as shoal. Fortunately for him, his buddy Patrick was there at just the right time. First of all, Julian could not feel his arms, but he was conscious. I don’t want to tell you all the details that transpired, because hearing him tell the story is more poignant.
Passion.
Finally. You will find when you listen to his story how passionate and grateful he is for life. Rather, than take life for granted, he has inspired others with his grit and determination to move forward and serve his financial community. He walked across the stage at his graduation and began his internship with MassMutual where he continues to work today.
It hasn’t always been easy, but that doesn’t stop him from moving forward, developing patience and meeting every challenge with a Can Do Attitude.
