My Wild Kingdom

I keep saying that I need to finish my traveling stories to Turkey and Greece and I will. There is much to share about those fascinating countries.

But, I’m in OMG Radio mode, because my show Born To Talk Radio premires in 3 short days on latalklive.com.  It’s a one hour show from 1-2 PT. If you miss the live feed, you will be able to check it out the archived link which will be posted on Facebook and Twitter later in the day! I know, pretty amazing from a blog that started in November, 2013!

My head is full of stuff, but it doesn’t stop me from noticing what’s going on in my yard.

What a week. Maybe Meghan Trainor may be All About The Bass, but I’m all about the birds.

Before leaving for Dodger Opening Day this past Monday, I was stunned by the newcomer at the table. Check this out!Looks like it’s about to take a snooze!  I guess it flew out of someone’s cage! What a way to start the week, I’ve missed being in the yard to catch these surprises! It’s most definitely hummingbird season; they’re everywhere.  I don’t need to put out any feeders, between the bottle brush and the fountain for their drinking and bathing pleasure, they make it very easy on me.Call me crazy, but the form of the water on the top of the fountain also looks like a bird!

The Gold Finch also stopped by.  It’s been a while since I’ve seen these.  I just love Spring! But the super star of the show goes to the Coopers Hawk.  All of these photos were taken through the sliding door in my family room. Imagine if I was outdoors shooting these. I’m telling you I took 40, yes 40 photos in about a 10 minute span. I’m not posting all of them, but I will pick a few of my favorites.

The really interesting thing is; when I initially saw the Hawk in the yard, I started the photo session, and then he flew off.  Immediately, a Hawk came right back to the fountain. I believe it was a larger adult Hawk. It seemed much bigger than the Hawk I first saw.

Not sure if the photos can show that. But here goes…Here’s the stare off! That’s when I was actually okay to be in the house! Then this guy showed up. He was huge and interested in bathing.Plus he was thirsty too; that took a lot of effort to splash around.I wasn’t kidding when I said this was a BIG Hawk.Take a bow my fine feathered friend. Thanks for the company! Not sure how my photos can translate to radio, you’ll just have to tune in and see what happens on this new journey!!

Let’s Get It Started!!  I can’t wait!!!
