My guests on the Born To Talk Radio Show Podcast are, Kyle Horne Founder and Executive Director of the non-profit Together! ACT Now and visiting from Malawi is Davie Willard, is the Co-Founder and Country Director at Together! ACT Now.
Unfortunately, we had a serious power outage, and you will be hearing this podcast when power resumed.
Meet Kyle Horne.
Kyle Horne was raised between Alaska and New Zealand. While he now calls Los Angeles home, he considers Malawi a second home. Theatre has been an important part of his life. From a young age he was on stage performing with Alaska Theatre of Youth. That lead him to Interlochen Arts Academy for his last two years of high school. He then scooted across the pond for his undergrad at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. While in London, he performed Shakespeare across Europe and appears in The Saint on Netflix. Kyle got his Executive Masters in Public Health from UCLA. At the age of 16 he took a family trip to Malawi, in sub-Saharan Africa. His mum had spent many years back in the 70’s there. Here he met Davie, who was teaching at a secondary school. This experience led him to creating Together! ACT Now, which he still runs as the Executive Director, in a voluntary manner. He ran the Literally Healing program at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles for nine years and now is heading up their climate sustainability initiatives. Kyle spends his days exploring, hiking, and reading with his wonderful wife and dog.
Meet Davie Willard.
Davie Mtemang’ombe Willard was born and raised in Malawi, a small, land-locked country in sub-Saharan Africa. He always had a love of teaching, acting, and community outreach. After getting his teaching certificate he quickly rose within the education world, teaching many different subjects like English, history, cultural studies, and others. He became the head teacher at multiple different schools. He taught many community classes on topics such as deforestation, financial planning, English, etc. When he first started with Together! ACT Now he was doing it on his weekends and after school. Davie completed his Bachelors degree at Mzuzu University and in 2019 because the full time Malawi Country Director and has led the organization ever since. He is often found helping his two girls with homework, playing with his toddler, or helping his wife with her store in the local market, or hiking early in the morning or kicking the soccer ball around with his community.
Together! ACT Now.

Join me for an inspiring conversation with Kyle and Davie from Together! ACT Now, this nonprofit uses the power of theatre to fight HIV in rural Malawi. In a county where 90% of people live in hard-to-reach villages and HIV remains a major public health crisis, this dynamic team brings live performances directly to communities-under the village tree, no stage required. But it’s more than a show. Each peformance is followed by on-the-spot HIV testing, counseling, and education, all free of charge. Their creative approach has already reached over 125,000 people and provided testing to more than 10,000-often for less than 40 cents per person. Davie is visiting from Malawi to celebrate their 15 year anniversary, so it is a real treat that he gets to join us.
In Closing.
What’s especially moving is how the actors themselves grow into leaders and advocates, reshaping their own futures while helping save lives. You’ll hear powerful stories of transformation, from community members discovering HIV status for the first time to teens finding confidence and purpose onstage. This podcast is about so much more than health, it’s about art, dignity, and what’s possible when local leaders lead.
Tune in to hear their story!!!
