We will be talking about how Lux Virtual is combining Rob’s dual passions for startups and education by empowering growth companies to educate investors and clients about their ideas and their products.
Rob is an active Rotarian with the Playa Vista Sunrise Rotary Club as well as an ultra endurance athlete. I’m looking forward to hearing his stories of endurance that includes a 3,000-mile solo bike race that stretched from Oceanside, California to Annapolis, Maryland with Race Across America known as the “World’s Toughest Bicycle Race”. He joined forces with 3000 Miles to a Cure, a foundation focused on raising money for brain cancer research.
This past summer in August he ran the non-stop course known as the “World’s Toughest Foot Race”, 135 miles across Death Valley to the Mt. Whitney Portal. The run began at Badwater Basin 282 feet below sea level. Instead of finishing at the Mt. Whitney Portal, Rob continued to the top of Mt. Whitney up to 14,505 feet and became the 124th person to complete the 146 mile run from the lowest point to the highest point in the contiguous United States. This run was in coordination with the District 5280 Rotary club and with the help of the District Governor Cozette Vergari leading the charge. Rob was able to raise $600,000 to go towards Rotaries long standing fight to eradicate polio.
Rob and his wife Kristin along with their little one-year-old boy Hudson walked the St. Frances route, 500 miles of the Camino de Santiago in Spain this past fall.
That’s how I would define ultra endurance. Why does he do it and what must it feel to accomplish these physical activities? Tune in to find out!
