Words Matter Day 1,000

Today marks a milestone for me, it is my 1,000th word.

My first word was Yes on November 3, 2016.

There was an inspiration to use this word, from a good friend I met at Toastmasters Speakers By The Sea, Russell Neese. I was feeling kind of low, and he said, “Marsha, just say Yes, to life.”

It was an ah-ha moment for me. I was already broadcasting my Born To Talk Radio Show in the LA Talk Live studio, at that point, but I was struggling emotionally. His friendship and advice was the spark that lite the fire.

In the beginning.

Just a bit of insight about me, for those of you that don’t know me well.  Excel spreadsheets are my friends!  How else would I know what number I’m on?  There’s the chronological order column and the alpha order column. Makes sense, right?  Then there’s the photo folder, with the picture that corresponds with the words and numbered by the day.

Beginning with word 158, Fiesty, I have kept a word document. Currently, I have 155 pages, with 96,718 words and growing by the day.

When I first started posting, The word today is…I just wrote my own thoughts about what those words meant to me. Then when Bliss was posted on day 292, I decided to post quotes from notable people that used the word, along with unknowns.Bliss is not a feeling but a state of being. In the state of Bliss, everything is loved.”  Deepak Chopra.

What happened next?

I started quoting people that I highly respect.  Many familiar, others that I’ve also come to also respect for their wisdom, humor, and guidance as well.

Here are some examples in alpha order:

“I’ve learned that people will Forget what you said, people will Forget what you did, but people will never Forget how you made them feel.” Maya Angelou.

“I have no particular talent. I am merely Inquisitive.” Albert Einstein.

“How Wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.” Anne Frank.

“Happiness is when what you think, what you Say, and what you do are in harmony.” Mahatma Gandhi.

“The best and most Beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched – they must be felt with the heart.” Helen Keller.

“Action without Vision is only passing time, Vision without action is merely daydreaming, but Vision with action can change the world.” Nelson Mandela.

“A woman is like a tea bag-you can’t tell how Strong she is until you put her in hot water.” Eleanor Roosevelt.

Anticipate the difficult by managing the easy.” Lao Tzu.

Now what?

What is crystal clear to me is, words do Matter.

Matter is word, 1,000!

I look forward to continuing this “Word today is” practice each day.  Much like Yoga, the more you practice, the deeper the connection, that’s what my shows are about each week, too.
